About Me

Would you like to learn a little something about me?

Linh Nguyen-NgWhere were you born?
I was born in Vietnam, but my family moved to the United States of America when I was a little girl. We moved around quite a bit but settled in Massachusetts. I enjoy the changing seasons. I love seeing the birth of new spring flowers, the warm and lazy feeling of summer, the smell of autumn leaves and the peaceful feeling of seeing my first snowflake. Although, I wish winter was shorter than the other seasons. Don’t we all?

Did you like school?
I loved school. I love learning new things. I loved English, Science and History. Math was “so so” because there was a definite answer to each math problem and I tend to like things that have more than one answer. I also liked my art classes where I could create one of kind work to bring home.

Did you go to school for writing?
No, I went to Massachusetts of Art & Design for fashion designing. I loved fashion; everything from clothes to jewelry and purses. This is every girl’s dream right? Well most girls. But while I was designing and making beautiful clothes fit, I was missing something that designing didn’t give me. My spirit was not happy. I had so stories in my head that I wanted to share. So I wrote during my breaks while I was at work and on the weekends. I realized that writing is what I’m supposed to do. Writing takes me to a special place that makes my heart very content.

What do you like most about being a kid?
As a kid, I really loved being outside in nature. I liked going fishing and spending time looking at bugs and plants. I also loved looking up in the sky and wondering about the Universe. I liked planets and stars. I spent a lot of time imagining and creating things in my head. I drew a lot and I wrote some stories that I wished I kept.

Do you have kids?
I have two beautiful kids- a girl and a boy. They keep me very busy. They motivate me to better at what I do every day. I also have a lot of nieces and nephews. So I am always surrounded by happy, intelligent and creative children.

Do you write or draw every day?
I try to write every day because it keeps my mind fresh and active so that I can create amazing stories. My teacher once told me that practice makes perfect. That is a true statement. I do not draw as often as I write, but I try to sketch at least once a week. There’s not enough time in a day to do everything that I love. But I try making time whenever I can.

My goal is to create magical stories that inspire wonder in children and adults.

Who helps you with your writing?
So many people help me with my writing. My wonderful husband reviews my writing and artwork and gives his suggestions. My writer buddies motivate me with their ideas for improvement. I am blessed to have them help me become a better writer.
